Juliana Sandi Pinheiro has a PhD in Development, Society and International Cooperation (2015), University of Brasília, Center for Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies. She also holds Master and Bachelor’s degrees in International Relations, from University of Brasilia (2002), International Relations Institute and, Catholic University of Brasilia (1999), Department of International Relations. Pinheiro has academic and professional experience in Brazil and abroad. She received a full scholarship from the Japanese government and began her doctoral studies at the University of Tsukuba, Japan (2006-2008). She worked at the UN in New York, Department of Political Affairs, Division of Americas and Europe, Subdivision of Americas. She has also undergone training courses at the United Nations University in Tokyo, the United Nations in New York, the Command and General Staff School of the Brazilian Army and the Joint Peace Operations Center of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. Doctor Pinheiro taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University of Brasília and the Catholic University of Brasilia. Permanent research in International Relations: 1) Social Power and Stabilization Strategies (diplomacy, development and defense) and UN peacekeeping missions; 2) Multilateral strategies to cope with international terrorism: the role of the UN.
