David Peat worked as a theoretical physicist at the National Research Council of Canada before turning to writing. He is the author of over twenty books including The Blackwinged Night: Creativity in Nature and Mind. Peat has organized encounters between artists and scientists, and between Native Americans and scientists. In 2000 Peat opened the Pari Center for New Learning in the small medieval Village of Pari in Tuscany, Italy. The Center runs courses, international conferences and a visitors' program. Peat is a distinguished fellow of the SARCHI chair, University of South Africa, fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, fellow of the International Futures Forum and honorary member of the Scientific Committee of the Club of Budapest.
